New to Oasis
We are so excited that you have decided or are considering being a part of Oasis Christian Church.
For more in-depth and detailed information we invite and encourage you to browse throughout the Oasis website. You may find answers to some of the questions you may have about our Oasis Church culture. If you have any specific questions, or are still uncertain about any ideology, ministries, or operating structure, please do not hesitate to contact us with your questions, concerns, or comments. We want to hear from you and are always looking for better ways to serve God’s people.
The Bible
We are a church that believes, follows, and stands on the Word of God. We believe this inspired Word of God has the answers to all of life’s pressing questions that we encounter, daily. God’s Word advises us to hide His Word in our hearts that we might not sin against Him.
Pastor Calvin encourages Oasis to bring their bibles to services. Some of the more popular translations that are used are the Amplified Bible and King James Version. There are also some great Bible softwares available at many stores that sell computer products and accessories that can be downloaded to your cellular phone. Many of the members are starting to use these apps in lieu of bringing their bible.
While we post the Word of God on our media screen, we also have free bibles available upon reques for you—just ask the usher.
Music
As stated in the music category of the website community section, Oasis music is culturally and ethnically diverse.
Oasis music is loud, quiet, instrumentated, acapella, acoustic, amplified, and is unique in translation. We sing everything from Hillsongs to Kirk Franklin, Mercy Me to Israel Houghton, Chris Tomlin to Fred Hammond and the time-honored hymns that have carried the church through many challenges of each age in human history. On occasion we have been known to throw in a radio song when relevant.
Some people move, dance, jump, and shout unto God with a voice of triumph while others stand in quiet reverence as they are led by the Holy Spirit.
Everyone at Oasis is encouraged to express their gratitude in praise to the Lord as they receive revelation from the Holy Spirit, who leads and guides us to all truth.
Prayer
Prayer is the key to your success as a born-again believer. Prayer is one of the main ways that we can build our relationship with God.
Simply defined, prayer is talking with your heavenly Father. You can speak to God anytime, anywhere, about anything.
Because of His love and grace, and our faith, we can come boldly before this throne and commune with Him and He with us.
His Word assures us that He will never leave us nor forsake us and is our refuge and strength; a present help in the time of trouble.
Prayer is emphasized in every aspect of ministry at Oasis. There are many corporate opportunities to come together as a church and pray.
Check our website for times and schedule. Plan to join us as we seek the face of the Lord. Pastor Calvin whole-heartedly believes that prayer will help us to overcoming every situation life throws our way. Gradually, you will start to see changes and experience victories even in adverse times because your mind is stayed on Christ Jesus.
Giving
GIVING IS AN ACT OF WORSHIP
Giving is a spiritual sacrifice and an expression of love and gratitude, because everything we have comes from God (see 1 Chronicles 29:14). David said that he will not give to the Lord that which cost him nothing (2 Samuel 24:24)
GIVING IS A TEST OF OUR FAITHFULNESS
the way we give indicates a great deal about our spirituality. Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (see Matthew 6:21).
BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES FOR GIVING
In 1 Corinthians 16:1-2, we find specific guidelines for giving: it is to be a universal practice for believers (v. 1); it is to be done
regularly (v.2); it is a personal act (v.2); and it is something we should be prepared to do (v.2). As we give, God will meet our needs and prosper us (see 2 Corinthians 9:6-10).
MOTIVES FOR GIVING
God promises to bless us if we have the right attitude toward giving (see Luke 6:38; Proverbs 3:9-10). However, some people give the wrong motives. The Bible tells us to “let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
THE PRINCIPLE FOR STEWARDSHIP
A steward oversees the affairs and property of another person. Stewardship implies that everything we have belongs to God. Being a good steward means to manage our resources well and use them to glorify God.
THE PRINCIPLE OF TITHING
Old Testament law required God’s people to give ten percent of their income, which could include flocks, herds, or crops. This ten percent was known as a tithe. Jesus said we should tithe in the New Testament! Matt. 23:23, Luke 11:42
